Magnus Financial Discretionary Management Ltd (Magnus) is a discretionary investment management business that’s part of the Wren Sterling Group of companies.
We manage over £1bn of client assets and we exclusively serve clients of Wren Sterling.

We operate as a separate company within the same group of companies as Wren Sterling, known as the Wren Sterling Group.

It’s important to state that Wren Sterling’s financial advice business is totally independent and financial advisers do not receive inducements for recommending Magnus as an investment solution.
Our history
Find out how we grew to manage over £1bn in Wren Sterling clients’ assets.
Magnus previously traded under the name of Mutual Financial Discretionary Management LLP (MFDM), which was set up in 2020 by the directors of Mutual Financial Management LLP.
MFDM was acquired by Wren Sterling in 2022. It grew to manage over £200m of client assets prior to the acquisition.
Building on solid foundations, the Wren Sterling Group hired Rory McPherson as Chief Investment Officer and MFDM was rebranded to Magnus in early 2023.
At the same time, the Magnus board and investment committee was remodelled and Clemmie Vaughan, former Chief Executive of Ruffer joined as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Magnus Investment Committee, ensuring the same rigour exists in Magnus as in other large investment management firms.
Our team has grown since, with the hiring of Emma Matthews as Investment Manager to oversee our Bespoke proposition.
